Temp Market Growth Increase

Temp Market Growth

Year on year growth for the months of January and February show an upturn in our clients use of temporary staff of just over 50%. In our near 3 years of trading we have experienced year on year growth in the temporary market, however this year has so far provided the biggest year on year improvement. Many businesses are taking advantage of immediately available candidates with specific skill sets which can benefit their business in this difficult period. Whether it be a qualified accountant, an experienced office administrator/manager, or a sales executive to help bolster sales and improve relationships. The flexibility of temporary staff is also of benefit, as it allows you to move with demand in a time where this can be crucial.

As you may be aware holiday entitlement for Permanent, Temporary, and Contract workers will be increasing to 28 days (inclusive of bank holidays) as of the 1st April 2009.

With this increase in mind, should you take on any temporary workers from Change Recruitment Services you will be provided with two separate rates, one for prior to 1st April and the other for 1st April onwards to ensure all entitlements are honoured fully.

teamworkTemporary recruitment...
...how times have changed!

Back in the dim and distant past almost 20 years ago the frequent cry of ‘but you’re only a temp' could be heard in temporary assignments across the UK. Then being a temp often meant not only the worst seat in the office but little responsibility or integration into the business you worked in.

In order to find out whether things have changed for the better we posed the question to Jenni a key member of our temporary team who has been working for several months within the shared service centre of SITA UK a leading recycling and waste management company in Worle, Weston-super-Mare.

Jenni's feedback was enlightening and her positive experience of what it means to work as a temp now shows that for her being a temp has been a successful alternative to permanent employment.

"My time at Sita has been fantastic , from day one when you go through a thorough induction process you feel confident that the organisation is committed to ensuring the health and safety, equal opportunities and well being of its staff. I have been encouraged to take a proactive approach to my role and unusually been given both the authority and responsibility to put forward and implement new initiatives within the business. My job is evolving all the time and one of the best parts of being here has been the ongoing encouragement I have received from my direct manager."

It's evident from Jenni's enthusiasm for her role that the status of being a permanent or temporary employee isn't the key factor , it's the genuine opportunity to feel part of a company's culture and involved in the business that defines the experience for everyone involved.
